Talcum Powder has been used for generations to soothe, freshen & soften skin. Many women also use talc products daily for feminine hygiene and after showering. However, research now shows links with talc and ovarian cancer and lawsuits have been filed against Johnson & Johnson.
What is Talcum Powder?
Talcum powder is made from talc, a mineral made up primarly of oxygen, silicon, and magnesium. As a powder, it absorbs moisture well and helps cut down on friction, making it useful for keeping skin dry and helping to prevent rashes. It is widely used in cosmetic products such as baby powder and adult body and facial powders, as well as in a number of other consumer products.
Talcum powder has also been used daily by generations of women for feminine hygiene and after showering.
- 21,000 cases of ovarian cancer are diagnosed annually in the United States 100%
- Talcum powder could cause about 2,100 cases, or 10 percent 10%
In 2014, there were two class-action lawsuits filed against Johnson & Johnson, both claiming the company is responsible for giving women ovarian cancer by marketing their talc-based products as a feminine hygiene solution. They are accused of not disclosing the possible connection between ovarian cancer and their products.
